1. First past the post (FPTP) – Canada's current system


  • Under the FPTP system a representative can get elected on small amounts of public support, because it does not matter how much they win by, only that they get more votes than other candidates. 

  • This amusing Fair Vote video uses the metaphor of purchasing a pizza to outline the problems and constraints of our current voting system.
